Download Western Digital USB2.0 HDD for Windows to uSB driver.

Hello, I have a new desktop PC and I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. My next step was to add a snazzy new Western Digital PCIe (PCI-Express) USB 3.0 card. I can’t find the driver disk and, unfortunately, Win7 x64 can’t seem to find the driver nor can stinkin’ Windows Update?! I checked the western digital site too and struck out, I don’t think it is even listed?!

So you’re my last best hope, to repeat: after running Windows update I still have ONE unknown device in device manager even though I know what it is 🙁 PS as stated, I am running x64 Windows.

• To download and install the Western Digital My Book driver on your Windows 7 computer. Go to any web browser on the Windows 7 computer. Launch the manufacturer site. Locate the driver file name and click the Download button beside it.
• Hi, I cannot register my HD, as it is too old I presume, and I wish to format it. I cannot download the applicable software as the HD cannot be registered. I wish to transfer this HD to a newer PC and need to reformat it after it is relocated. Can somebody help me with the necessary software. I am using Windows 7.

Answer. Here is where to download the drivers for the WD USB 3.0 PCIe add on card:

(this is a local mirror of the install CD drivers, since they do not appear to be available anywhere online…)

You should be good to go since you are running 64 bit Windows 7. The install/setup utility will select the correct version. It also has drivers for XP/Vista/Windows 7 both 32 bit and 64 bit…
